Emerging Women

I found a great post with a list if women writers we all need to be reading. Two of my favorites are on it, Phyliss Tickle and Diana Butler Bass. I will have to check out the others. Brian McLaren wrote the post.

The other day I found Phyliss Tickel on Facebook. On a whim I asked her to add me as one of her friends. She did! What a world we live in.

I told Lon that I hadn't done a lot of reading of emergent women theologians, but I've read more than I had thought. I love Diana Butler Bass and her book "Practicing Our Faith" was a big part of my senior thesis in college.

I still need to pick up Phyllis Tickle's book - but in seminary would go through her Order of Hours books with a friend.

For some more women who would self-identify as emergent check out this list and response to the same post on the emergingwomen blog:

And, having just finished "Postcolonial Feminist Interpretation of the Bible" by Musa W. Dube (Vanderbilt PhD and Professor of New Testament at the University of Botswana) for Emergent's theological conference next Nov. in Atlanta, let me humbly add her name to the list. The book is awesome...if challenging!
